Faisal said, "We hope that the United Nations Security Council deals positively with the General Assembly resolution on granting Palestine the status of an observer state at the United Nations, responds to the opinions of international majority opinions in dealing with the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, and puts an end to the Israeli policy of procrastination within the framework of its responsibilities in maintaining international peace and security. The situation in Syria remains unfortunately worsening both in terms of increasing numbers of victims and the displaced people or the severe destruction witnessed by Syrian cities under the bombardment of the blind devastating military machine of the regime, the matter which makes the process of political transition of power even more imperative and necessity for preserving Syria's land and people. We see that the formation of the new Syrian coalition constitutes a positive important task to unite the opposition under one banner. We hope to see a similar step toward unifying the positions and visions of the international community in dealing with the Syrian affairs in all their political, security and humanitarian aspects. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will participate in the Conference of Friends of Syria scheduled to be held in Morocco next week within the framework of its keenness on pressing international efforts in this direction. In the midst of successive crises sweeping the world, a glimmer of light and hope has emerged in the opening of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Center for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue in Vienna. I have been honored to participate in the opening of the center with Foreign Ministers of Austria and Spain, and with the broad participation of the leaders of religions and cultures around the world. I hope that the center becomes a beacon of peace and harmony to enhance the culture of respect and coexistence between peoples and to address their differences in light of the goals and objectives for which the Center was established. --More
