President Michel Martelly of the Republic of Haiti expressed appreciation and gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's leadership, government and people for their assistance to his country after the earthquake that hit it in 2010. He also expressed hope to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries in all areas, and benefit from the experience of the Kingdom in various fields. This came during a reception held between the Haitian President with Saudi Ambassador Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz Abanmi to Venezuela and who is also acting as non-resident Ambassador of the Saudi government to the Republic of Haiti. During the meeting, Saudi ambassador also conveyed to the President of Haiti the greetings of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and his Crown Prince . Furthermore, Haitian Speaker of the Senate and President of National Assembly (Parliament), Dieuseul Deras Simon, confirmed that his country highly appreciates the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its international position and its humanitarian aid provided for his country during the natural disasters it suffered. This came during a meeting between the Speaker of Senate and Ambassador Abanmi.
