Prince Saud Al-Faisal Chairs 123rd Session Of GCC Ministerial Council In Jeddah 2 Jeddah
Published in Saudi Press Agency on 05 - 06 - 2012

Faisal said the resolution of the GCC Supreme Council during the 14th Consultative summit held on 14 May 2012 to convert the GCC from the phase of cooperation into union is top of the agenda of today's meeting.
As you know, the GCC leaders have accepted during their consultative meeting a proposal by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud that the Ministerial Council (foreign ministers level) continues studying the ad hoc commission on transferring the GCC from cooperation to union and submits its report to the Supreme Council to take action when they meet in Riyadh, Prince Saud Al-Faisal said.
He added that the responses and amendments of the GCC statute have recently been completed. So, it would be feasible to give more time to prepare replies for such notes and complete the review during the Ministerial Council's meeting scheduled for September 2012, he explained.
He drew the attention that the important contributions exerted by the Ministerial Council over the last recent period have led to the achievement of security and stability in Yemen.
Prince Saud Al-Faisal told the meeting that the outcome of May 6, 2012 10th meeting of the joint technical committee assigned to voice the developmental needs for Yemen are among today's agenda. He reminded that the committee has passed a number of measures to expedite the disbursement of financial assistance and also agreed to a list of developmental projects expected to be implemented during this year 2012. He said the execution of this agreement requires a lot of flexibility and efforts.
He said the committee is assigned to prepare for the Yemen donors conference. He expressed belief that all the GCC member states will participate at highest levels in the Yemen donors conference and provide the required support for Yemen to help it overcome the current plight, noting that the GCC is seeking to put its capabilities at the disposal of a quick solution to the Yemeni crisis and contribute to prevent bloodshed.
