Centuries galore in Prince Faisal Cup

JEDDAH: Shoeb Ali and Rashid Malik hit centuries in the Prince Faisal Premier Cup sponsored by Saudi Cricket Center and organized by the Western Province Cricket Association here last week.
Usman Gems went down against Dopco Stars while AOT Sonex thrashed IDB in the 40-over Premier League. Jotun Paints, United, Elaf Engineering and AMI won their respective matches in the Afternoon Tournament as Jeddah Lords, My Care White, UCC and Al-Mazroi won in the Morning Tournament.
The first match in the 40-over Prince Faisal Premier Cup Tournament saw Dopco Stars beat Usman Gems by 15 runs. Batting first Dopco plundered 308-9 as Shoeb Ali displayed determination and temperament to hit 147 off 106 balls. Shahbaz made 29 and Javeed 27. Babar grabbed 4-39 and Rashid Malik 2-48 for Usman Gems.
Usman Gems had a disastrous start but Amer Sajjad (80) and Rashid Malik (120) tried to consolidate their position but struggled to make 293-8. Javeed picked up 2-24, Shahbaz 2-34 and Shoeb 2-58.
AOT Sonex thrashed IDB by 196 runs. Taking the strike first AOT racked up 366-8 as Ilyas smashed 73, Faiq 75, Faisal 43, Imtiyaz 40 and Zeeshan 41. Riyaz Khan took 3-34 and Abdullah Shah 2-57. IDB in response was bamboozled by Imran Yusuf of AOT who grabbed six wickets for just 34 runs to bundle it out for 170 as Yassir resisted with 36.
In the Afternoon Tournament Jotun Paints thrashed Al-Safri-XI by 14 runs as Jotun batting first piled up 172-6 with Mazhar making 68 and Imran 47. They added 115 for the second wicket. Butt made 32. Wasiq bagged 2-36. Al-Safri responded with 158-8 as Tauseef hit 46. Shahnawaz and Ejaz bagged two wickets each for 33 and 37 runs respectively. Elaf Engineering thrashed AOT My Style by six wickets. Qamar Azad took 5-17 and Imran 3-29 to restrict AOT My Style to 145. Shani was the only batsman to put up some resistance with 32. Elaf Engineering was home with 147-4 in 97 balls. Usman remained unbeaten on 58 with Siddique contributing 32. Sajjad bagged 3-27 for AOT.
In another match AMI Juffali beat Zultrack by 30 runs. Batting first AMI Juffali racked up 202-7 in 18 overs as Imran hit 77 and Emad scoring 35 and Rafi Gujjar 37. Arif bagged 2-37. In reply Zultrack was stranded at 172-5 as Nazeer hit 46, Khadim 45 and Emaad 37. Asif bagged 2-33 and Najan 2-25 for AMI. United Cricket Club beat Pak-XI by 28 runs after scoring 154 all out. Amir Shahzad made 26, while Saif scalped 4-20 and Majid took 2-23. Pak-XI was bowled out for 126 as Raja Mudassir bagged 3-17 and Erfan 2-28.
In the first match of the Morning event My Care White thumped Usman Gems Tiger by eight wickets. Batting first Tiger scored 133-6 with only Zayed holding his end with an unbeaten 62. Adil restricted Tiger movement by taking 3-9 and Shahid 2-10. My Care Whites was home with 134-2 off 76 balls. Shahid plundered 75 runs. Another match in the tournament saw Al-Mazroi thrash Budget by nine wickets as it achieved the target of 110 for the loss of one wicket off 68 balls with Kifayatullah smashing 68 and Farooq Darbar 33 (not out).
Universal Coil beat Hala International School by 14 runs. Batting first Universal Coil scored 177-5 as Wasim Mukadam made 31 and Arsalan remained unbeaten on 41. Arshed took 2-37.
Hala in response could only score 163-7 with Omar scoring 60 and Shani making 40. Yassir grabbed 2-27 for Universal.
Another tie saw Jeddah Lords beat GGI by seven wickets. GGi scored 128-9 as Farhan of Lords took 3-17 an Farhat 2-30. Lords reached the target of 130 for the loss of three wickets off 94 balls as Farhan stood his ground to remain unbeaten on 45.
