Saudis stand united: Prince Naif
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 14 - 03 - 2011

RIYADH: Prince Naif Bin Abdul Aziz, Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior, on Saturday denounced the plan of some wicked people to hold demonstrations in the Kingdom to undermine the country's security and stability.
He said the Saudi leadership and people deserve praise and congratulations for a noble stand against such evil elements.
He made these comments before the opening of the 6th Gulf Conference for Municipal Work at the King Faisal Conference Hall in Riyadh, Saturday. The four-day conference – from March 12 to 15 – is organized by the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs. The theme is “New Horizons for Joint Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Municipal Work”.
A number of GCC municipal officials and an elite group of experts are participating in the event. Before delivering a speech about municipal affairs in the GCC countries, Prince Naif spoke about the recent calls for demonstrations. He said those who intended to hold protest marches on Friday wanted to create chaos and confusion in the country.
“But they have proved that they do not know the people of Saudi Arabia. Our people have proved to the whole world the unity and cohesion among them and the Saudi leadership,” he said. “Saudis are a faithful and loyal people fashioned by the character and manners of Islam and I congratulate King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and Crown Prince Sultan for this,” he said.
“Our people are a noble and loyal people. They will not be deceived by falsifications,” Prince Naif said.
He said King Abdullah was very much impressed by the noble stand taken by the Saudi people.
“They have shown to the entire world that the government has strong support of its people.”
“Our people are united with their leadership as one nation clinging to their constitution, the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of Prophet (pbuh).
We cannot thank the Saudi noble people enough.” Prince Naif thanked all Saudi people as well as the Council of Senior Islamic Scholars, headed by Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Aal Al-Sheikh, for standing by the Saudi leadership and giving a strong reply to the instigators.
He also underlined GCC leaders' care for municipal work in their countries and called for more coordination and cooperation among GCC municipal authorities.
