Sweden was given a day off from training on Monday and many of the squad visited Milan ahead of their Group D showdown with Russia at Euro 2008. Team officials said coach Lars Lagerback had given his players a free day before Wednesday's match. Sweden will set up a quarterfinal with Netherlands if it manages at least a draw. “They were given free day to themselves. Many of the players went to Milan, probably shopping and the like,” general team manager Lars Richt told reporters at their lakeside training base in Lugano on the Swiss-Italian border. “Some players stayed and relaxed at the hotel and some even did some training of their own,” he added. Asked if the players were invited by Sweden striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic for a cup of tea at his Milan home, Richt said: “No they didn't visit Zlatan's place”.
