JRTC, Shelter, SCTC surge ahead in Top Cup Tennis

JEDDAH: Jeddah Ranao Tennis Club (JRTC) split its two category C assignments against separate teams, at the action kicked off in the 1st Top Cup Team Tennis Challenge 2011 at Al-Bilad Hotel tennis courts here recently.
Team JRTC-2 was taken to the fifth and decisive set before subduing team King Faisal Hospital on a 3-2 victory, as team Shelter over-powered team JRTC-1 with a similar 3-2 tally, while Team SCTC/Pepsi-Bugshan lorded it over JRTC-3 in their category B2 encounter, winning 4-1 in style.
Team JRTC-2 started strong with the pair of Farouk S./Abdullah beating team King Faisal Hospital's Kutubuddin/Ahmed Aref at 8-3 to take the lead, but KFH's Amin Emajlovic/Jacek Sasnowski countered to take the second set at 8-2 that tied the match at 1-1. A no-show by KFH gave the 3rd set to and a 2-1 win to JRTC-2.
With their backs against the wall, KFH teams Ayman Abdulateef/Bader Al-Wherazi stormed past Poding/Omar with a convincing 8-2 triumph that tied the match anew at 2-2.
Team JRTC-2's Rashid/Tonjee, took matters in its own hands by handily disposing of KFH's Yasr Katonah/Faiz Al-Malki at 8-2 to win the set and the match at 3-2. In contrast team Shelter-1 up-ended JRTC-1 by taking the 5th and final set to win the match with a 3-2 scorecard and register their first win.
In B2 category, Saudia City Tennis Club/Pepsi-Bugshan team was in high gear as it started with an early win in the 1st set, with Efren Bulatao/Leo L. finishing a close 8-5 win against Kim/Lao of team JRTC-3.
JRTC-3's Acmad Sani/Alex grabbed the second set with an 8-3 win against Ramil Abdua/Digo Boringot to draw level. The third set was a tight 8-6 win by SCTC's Francis/Darwish Bederi over Tuffs Laguindab/Hatts Mamainte, but Rowell Cuasay/Ronnie Santos drove the last nails to seal the match at 3-1 with one set to spare that turned a default win in favor of team SCTC/Pepsi-Bugshan, for a final tally at 4-1.
Other results. Category C: Dabarkads beat Jollibee-1 (3-2), Friday Bulls-Amin beat Zuhair Fayez-1 (3-2), SCTC Pepsi/Bugshan-1 beat Friday Bulls-Amin (5-0), JRTC-1 beat SCTC/Pepsi-Bugshan (4-1).
Category B2: JRTC-4 beat Shelter-2 (4-1), Jollibee-2 beat Shelter-2 (4-1), JRTC-3 beat JIS-1 (3-2).
Category LMX: JBTP Lacoste-2 beat Saudi Oger-1 (3-2), JS Seo beat ASTEC (3-2).
Category MMX: NCB beat JRTC-7 (3-2), Saudi Oger-2 beat Zuhair Fayez-2 (4-1).
Category B1/B: Jollibee-4 beat Jollibee-5 (3-2).
