JEDDAH: Zahid Khan raised the bar for the bowlers in the Jeddah Cricket Association's Premier Division when he picked up a hat trick in his figures of 7-21 on way to helping Kanoo Travel beat ACE travel by 79 runs.
Elsewhere Babar Toor beat Hijaz-XI by 48 runs; Kanoo won the match against Natco by eight runs; while Sultan Al-Abideen beat Jawar Al-Jazira by 29 runs in the third week matches of Premier Division.
Kanoo Travel batting first piled up 216-3 in its quota of 18 overs and then restricted ACE Travel to 137-9 to win the match by 49 runs.
Openers Syed Kaleem (94 runs) and partner Mazhar (8) gave Kanoo a decent start. One-down batsman Muhammad Riyaz Chukkan hit a quick-fire 75 with skipper Akbar remaining unbeaten on 17 runs. Rayeesuddin, Shoaib and Ashfaque bagged a wicket each for ACE Travels.
In reply ACE Travel slumped to 137-9 as Zahid Khan with his deceiving slow off-spin bowling captured 7-21 with a hat trick in his third over. Akbar and Imran bagged a wicket each for Kanoo Travel. Rayeesuddin made 44, Imran 31, while Anwar Ahmed Khan and Ismail scored 18 runs each for ACE Travels.
The second match saw Babar Toor beat Hijaz-XI by 48 runs. Take the strike first Babar Toor made 201-3 and then bowled Hijaz-XI out for 154.
Babar Toor had to thank Imran for making 107 runs, while Uzair added 41, and Majid Bhatti remained unbeaten on 14. Imran 1-27 and Ather 1-33 were among the wickets for Hijaz-XI.
In reply Hijaz-Xi collapsed for 154. Wahaj made 43, Sayeed Balm and Sayeed Amoudi added 16 each, while Talha and Ishtiyaque scored 15 each. Uzair took three wickets, while Akbar Butt, Majid Bhatti and Imran bagged a wicket each for Babar Toor.
Another match saw Kanoo score an eight-run win over Natco. Kanoo batting first scored 181-8 in 18 overs. Najamuddin made 61, Rashid Khursheed 32 and Waseem 10. Ilyas, Nadeem and Mumrez Khan took two wickets each, while Jahangir, Humayun took a wicket each for Natco.
In reply Natco could make only 174-7 in 18 overs. Nadeem remained unbeaten on 46 and Parvez was 31 not out, Humayun Farooq made 31 and Mumrez Khan 15. Sami Khan bagged 4-34, Majid Sheikh took three wickets and Saadique Merchant one for Kanoo.
Sultan Al-Abideen-XI in another match beat Jawar Al-Jazira by 29 runs. Batting first Sultan Al-Abideen-XI scored 188-7 in 18 overs. Wasay made 68, Zameer 47, Irfan Qureshi 28 and Raheel 24. Kamran picked up three wickets, Omar two, while Shahzad and Shaan Manzoor bagged a wicket each for Jawar Al-Jazira.
In reply Jawar Al-Jazira could score only 160-7 in 18 overs. Shehzad made 73, Shaan Manzoor 32 and Zulfiqar remained not out on 28. Zuhair, Guddu and Irfan Qureshi bagged two wickets each for Sultan Al
