RIYADH: Under the patronage of the wife of King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz, Princess Hessa Al-Sha'alan, the Ministry of Education here Tuesday honored a number of top-performing women teachers at the King Fahd Cultural Center, in the presence of more than 1,000 teachers on the occasion of World Teachers' Day Noura Al-Fayez, Deputy Minister of Education for Girls Education, said teachers are the trustees of education. She added that the government cares for them because of their role in educating the younger generation of the country with knowledge of religion and morals. This is why “the ministry has been supporting and encouraging them, and providing them with opportunities and incentives that are equal to the importance of the role they play in society”, she said. The ministry aims to encourage teachers to take part in the building, decision-making and organization of education. To achieve this, she said, there must be an institutional system in the form of consultation councils for teachers and periodic meetings with the minister and the ministry's officials. Al-Fayez said that teachers will be the topic of discussions at the 20th education meeting to be held next month in Asir. She added that the King Abdullah project for the development of education involves several projects focusing on the skills development of teachers.
