JEDDAH: Drivers of rental cars will now be monitored on a new website set up by the Saher system authorities. The measure has been introduced to crack down on reckless drivers of rental cars. The Public Transportation Committee at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI), said the Saher authorities have urged the owners of the rental car companies and investors to register the details and particulars of their vehicles on the website. Saeed Bin Ali Al-Bassami, Deputy Chairman of the Public Transportation Committee at the JCCI, said the website was set up after owners and investors in Riyadh complained that they were being fined for traffic violations rather than the drivers who rented these vehicles. He said this website will put an end to the complaints. He said the public will eventually be able to see the effect of the Saher system once it is implemented across the country. They will definitely see a major improvement in safety standards and a significant drop in fatal traffic accidents which cost the Kingdom more than SR20 billion yearly.
