MODON in logistics accord for Jeddah 2nd Industrial City

JEDDAH: Dr. Tawfig Bin Fawzan Alrabiah, Director General of Saudi Industrial Property Authority (MODON) and Yousef Bin Hamoud Al-Diyab, General Manager of Al-Diyab Logistics Services Company, signed an agreement under which latter will provide integrated logistical services in the supply chain to factories located in Jeddah 2nd Industrial City, the compnay said in a statement Monday.
The company will also establish warehouses for storage of industrial products and provide means of transportation for these products to different local and regional areas.
Dr. Alrabiah emphasized that MODON “is always keen to attract the private sector in providing specialized services to factories thereby creating a supportive environment for industrialists realizing good returns for all parties.
Abdullah Al-Faris, Business Development Officer in MODON, noted that MODON seeks to attract logistical services investors to provide all the services available in the supply chain and facilitating the operations of factories in the delivery of raw materials, as well as finished products to their customers at best services and lower costs, which will create additional and competitive features for the industrial cities in Saudi Arabia.
Yousef Bin Hamoud Al-Diyab noted that the current investment in Jeddah 2nd Industrial City is one of the priorities wherein an early decision was taken which constitutes the future importance to handle all logistical services (land transport - storage - express) as well as adding customs clearance and sea freight in the near future. Therefore, investments estimated at more than SR10 million are allocated for the establishment of cold stores and warehouse in Jeddah 2nd Industrial City to serve the industry and create strategic partnerships with customers and the existing factories in Jeddah 2nd Industrial City.
Diyab Company owns a fleet of 1,200 different types of trucks.
MODON has allocated an area of about 375,000 square meters in Jeddah 2nd Industrial City to establish supporting projects in the supply chain.
The industrial city is witnessing many development and investments projects.
MODON currently oversees 20 industrial cities existing in different regions of Saudi Arabia (Riyadh 1 & 2, Jeddah 1 & 2, Dammam 1 & 2, Makkah, Madinah, Qassim, Al-Ahsa, Assir, Al-Jouf, Tabuk, Hail, Najran, Jazan, Al-Kharj and Ar'ar, in addition to Sudair City for Industry and Business, and Rabigh complex for plastic industries). Development contracts of five new cities were signed which include: Riyadh 3rd, Zulfi, Shaqraa', Taif, and Baha. Development of designs and plans for other cities are currently underway to include Jeddah 3rd, Dammam 3rd, Salwa, Al-Ahsa 2nd, Hafr Al-Batin and the Pharmaceutical Industry in Al-Oyayna.
The industrial cities, as planned, would accommodate industrial projects which have contributed to the accommodation of 3,000 industrial projects.
