Continental Hotels beat Hilton by 30 runs to win the IHG 12-over cricket tournament here recently. IHG, which runs a group of hotels in Madina, organized the tournament, where eight teams participated. They were: Dallah Taiba, Hilton, Oberoi, Anwaar Al-Madinah Movenpick, Inter-Continental, Aramas, Ramada and Concorde Hotels. Hilton and Inter-Continental Hotels defeated Movenpick and Dallah Taiba in the semifinals. In the final match Inter-Continental won the toss and decided to take the strike first. It put on 125 runs. Top batsmen Maqsood and captain Nadeem gave their team a solid start with 36 and 25 runs, respectively. Manzoor Mughal was the only successful bowler who grabbed three wickets for 22 runs for Hilton. Chasing a challenging total, Hilton was bundled out for 95 runs. Sarfaraz scored 27, while Habib, Maqsood and Minto grabbed two wickets each for Inter-Continental. The event was sponsored by IHG Madina in an effort to elevate players' morale. Dr. Khalid Basalama, Manager Human Resource, attended the prize distribution ceremony as chief guest. Valuable prizes were presented to Maqsood (man of the final match), Riyaz (best batsman of the tournament) and Manzoor Mughal (best bowler of the tournament).
