NAIROBI: Kenya's troubled Olympic marathon champion Samuel Wanjiru suffered minor injuries in a traffic accident Friday evening, police said. Wanjiru was driving to his Nyahururu home in central Kenya when his car was involved in a head-on collision with a lorry which was heading in the opposite direction. “The accident happened just when Wanjiru was trying to avoid a pothole. The lorry was so close that he could not avoid hitting it,” said an eye-witness. Wanjiru suffered minor hand injuries in the accident. In December, Wanjiru's fellow athlete Paul Tergat sustained minor injuries in another road accident in Western Kenya.
