JEDDAH: A delegation from Germany is here to enhance friendly relations with the people of Saudi Arabia. Dr. Gerhard Schroeder, former Chancellor, is part of the delegation of (NUMOV) Nah-Und MittelOst –Verein E.V German Near and Middle East associations. At a reception he organized Wednesday in honor of the visiting delegation, Dr. Michael Zickerick, Consul General of Germany, said the delegation had several meetings with Saudi authorities. “Our first meeting was with Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, OIC Secretary General, to discuss matters between the Muslim World and the West. The meeting was very productive and held in a positive atmosphere and spirit.” He said “Chancellor Dr. Gerhard Schroeder is a well-known person who takes great interest and put great efforts to enhance the relationship and he is very pro-Middle Eastern person for that”. The delegation also had several meetings with Saudi businessmen, Saudi Binladin group and JCCI where it held talks with Sheikh Saleh Kamel, President of the JCCI, and other officials and exchanged views to boost trade German-Saudi trade ties. “Our mission is not only to enhance mutual relationship and friendship but also to bring the people and businessmen together. Indeed it is a very successful visit, I am convinced that relationship between Saudi Arabia and Germany is really in good shape but nothing is so good which can't be better,” said Dr. Schroeder.
