MAHAYIL ASIR: Five security men from Mahayil Asir Governorate Police were slightly injured during an operation with other authorities to remove illegal structures in Al-Hilah Planned District No. 77 Friday. Security men were protecting Jaber Ibrahim Al-Sahaqi, Chairman of the Encroachments Committee in Mahayil Governorate, because citizens were throwing stones. An informed source told Okaz/Saudi Gazette that three Saudi nationals, who were among those who attacked the committee and the security officials, were arrested while Mahayil Asir Police were searching for two others involved in the attack. Col. Abdullah Ayidh Al-Qarni, Spokesman of Asir Region Police, said he would telephone the Director of Police before giving any statement. However, no statement was received from him. The Chairman of the Encroachments Committee in Mahayil Asir Governorate told Okaz/Saudi Gazette, “The directives of the Emir of Asir region have stressed that the encroachments in Planned District No. 77, east of Al-Hilah, have to be demolished fast. These encroachments are in the form of walled and fenced yards.” Al-Sahaqi added, “While razing the encroachments, we were surprised by a group of citizens who attacked us with knives. The security men present intervened, resulting in the injury of five of them …The citizens had introduced changes at the site.”
