JEDDAH: The mother of Adil Saleh Al-Qumaishi, one of 47 Saudis named last Sunday on the Ministry of Interior list of wanted terror suspects thought to be abroad, has said she will “never forgive the people who tempted my son” and told of how she has appealed to him to hand himself in to the authorities. “He was not aware of what was going on around him, he was a young and over-zealous man when he left and was tempted by others,” she said. She said she last saw her son 11 years ago when he was 20 years old, when according to her, he simply disappeared. He had been studying Shariah at a teachers college and had one year left to graduate. She later received a telephone call from him in which he said: “I'm in Pakistan.” She said that he told her he had gone there for jihad, and that she tried to get him to go back on his decision and to not hurt himself or others, asking him to “protect himself and his religion and return to my care and his brothers, and leave behind misguided ideas”. He told her in other phone calls that he had got married in Pakistan and had children. “I asked him to come back home and hand himself in so the state can take care of him and we could take care of his children,” his mother said. Abdul Malik, a brother of the wanted man, appealed to him to heed their mother's words and return. “He should contact the embassy in Pakistan and come home with his wife and three children,” he said. “He will find the care and concern of the state, as many others have returned and been put through programs and given care and returned to society. That is what I hope for from him. Our mother has no other wish than to see him and find him in good health.”
