MADINA: Challenging the driving ban in the country, a young Saudi woman traveling with her husband had no choice but to drive on the Jeddah-Madina road when her husband became ill. The husband, who is a diabetic, suffered from hypoglycemia while driving and pulled over because he felt weak and dizzy. He was about to start driving again, but his wife would not allow it. She put him in the back seat and took over driving the car –all the way to Al-Hamnah Hospital, a distance of about 120 kilometers, where the man was admitted to the emergency room and treated. Once he was better and capable of driving, they continued on their on their journey with the husband behind the wheel. A Saudi woman still waits to drive legally.
