JEDDAH: The third Tellicherry Cricket Forum (TCF) day and night cricket tournament will begin at the Baghdadiya ground here on Jan. 13, 2011. Announcing this at a press conference here Ali Orkatery, convener of the tournament, said that this five-day championship, which has become a hit in the city for the last two years, will be mainly sponsored by Shifa Jeddah with Air Arabia, Aeroxpress, Fadhil Hajj Group and Pocari Sweat as co-sponsors. Detailing the format of the event, Ali said that there will be 12 teams, including two-time champion Dynamic CC of Hyderabad and last year's runner-up Sri Lankan Malai cricketers, vying for honors this year. The final will be played on Jan. 21. After the preliminary league, where each team will be playing two matches, four top teams would be playing the knockout semifinals. All matches would be of 10-over each affairs, except the final which will of 12 overs each. The matches will be officiated by qualified umpires. Besides the winner's and runner-up trophies various other prizes such as man of the match for all matches, best batsman, best bowler, man of the series, best fielder, best all-rounder, fastest fifty and spirit of the game are at stake. To add more color and making the event spectator friendly the organizers have some fun games in store during the championship. Tajmal Babu, Anwar Sadat, Faheem Oliyath and Mohammed Faseesh spoke from the oganizers and sponsors Abdul Rehman, MD of Shifa Jeddah, and Syed Abdullatif, Business Development Manager of Aeroxpress, wished all success for the tournament.
