TAIF: Taif General Court Saturday sentenced four people to beheading by the sword for their involvement in killing six people two-and-a-half years ago in Taif. Four other people involved in the incident, at a private resort in Al-Wasliya area north of the city, were sentenced to prison terms. Appeals can be submitted within 30 days after the official receipt of the verdict. The perpetrators and victims were relatives and the killings took place during a reconciliation meeting arranged by tribal chiefs after the two parties had a dispute over a piece of land on Al-Sail Road, authorities said. A verbal dispute between the two families turned the reconciliation into a fight where knives were used and some people received severe stab wounds. As the fight escalated, one man fired 26 bullets from a machine gun and killed one person on the spot and the other five died in a hospital. The five killed in the fight were all brothers, according to authorities. The eight people convicted include the man who fired the machine gun, his father, four of his brothers and two of his cousins, authorities said.
