Riyadh: King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, is scheduled to leave for the United States Monday for further medical examinations and treatment at the recommendation of his medical team, a statement of the Royal Court said Sunday. In another statement, the Royal Court said Crown Prince Sultan, Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, was set to arrive from Morocco as Saudi Gazette went to the press. King Abdullah underwent a checkup at King Faisal Specialist Hospital in the capital Friday, after complaining of back pain. The examination revealed that his slipped disc was now complicated by a hematoma (collection of blood) that placed pressure on his spinal nerves. The medical team had advised him rest and further checkups. He left the hospital at noon the same day. The King's condition emerged at the onset of Haj. Meanwhile, King Abdullah has extended the services of Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Bin Abdullah Aal Al-Sheikh, Adel Bin Ahmad Al-Jubair, the Kingdom's Ambassador to the US, Dr Fahd Bin Abdullah Al-Samari, Secretary General of King Abdul Aziz Foundation, and Dr Abdul Rahman Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Shalhoub, Deputy Chairman of the Royal Protocol. The services of these officials were extended by four years.
