JEDDAH: Morning and Afternoon Tournaments in the Level II and Level I Divisions had some exciting results with Crown White defeating Mercedes Benz, Jeddah Lords winning against PISJ-ES, Hala International School tasting victory by one run against Johnson Control and Al-Mazroi downing Universal Coil.
In the Afternoon Tournament, Nesma Holding defeated My Care Hala Blue, SGB Baroom lost to IDB and MCC thrashed Usman Gems Tigers.
Mercedes Benz, batting first, against Crown Whites put up 129-7. Azhar Butt made 35 and Ilyas 27. Imran, Adil and Naveed took one wicket each. In reply Whites were home with 132-3 as Adnan remained unbeaten on 41, Zohair 30 and Naveed 26 not out. Kaifi took 2-16 and Najam one.
Pakistan International School (English Section) scored 160-7 against Jeddah Lords as Shahid Khan hit 46 off 23 balls and Tahir 22. Akram got 2-29 and Atif 2-28. Lords chasing the target were at the winning post with 162-4 with one ball to spare. Akram blasted 77 in 50 balls with 6 fours and Saif made 23.
Johnson Control chasing a meager total of 115 to win was bundled out for 113 by Hala International School as only Khubab 35 and Mumtaz (22) and Atta (18) entered double figures. Owais took 2-18. Earlier, Hala Intl. School collapsed for 114 as Sajjad took 3-23, Waseem grabbed 2-25 and Arshad accounted for 2-8. Hala won by a solitary run.
In another low scoring match between Al-Mazroi and Universal Coil, the latter came up with 129-6. Laik made 32 and Waseem got 28. Sufiyan scalped 3-23 and Khaleel took 2-11. Al-Mazroi achieved the winning target of 132-3 in 14.3 overs with Faruk making 52 studded with 5 hits to the fence. Kifayat stroked 41 and Faisal scored 24 not out.
In the Afternoon Division, SGB Baroom, batting first, hammered 174-6 against IDB. Zubair with the help of 3 fours and 2 sixes made 41 in 27 balls as Manjeet stroked 35 and together they added 94 for the opening partnership. Sarfaraz made 27 and Rehan made a quickfire 23. Misbah took 2-28.
Responding to this imposing total, IDB was home with 177-7. Khalid Butt hit 39 in 24 balls with 3 sixes and 4 fours and Anjum made 25 in just 9 balls whereas Ramzan stroked 31. Kashif took 2-27 and Sarfaraz had 2-28.
Taking the strike first, Nesma Holding racked up 184-6 against My Care and Hala Blue. Zafran hammered 35 Nadeem made 33, Nusrat got 32 and Usman 23 not out. For Blues, Imran scalped 2-21 and Rumesh 2-37. In reply My Care Hala Blue started disastrously but Rohan made an impressive 71 in 30 balls with 5 sixes and 4 fours and Imran hammered 33 in 13 balls to get to 106 in just 9 overs. Once they were back to the pavilion the Blues lost wickets at regular intervals to be stranded at 170-7 to lose by 14 runs. Fahad got 2-33 and Zafran grabbed 2-42. Usman Gems Tiger went down to Mardan Cricket Club after a valiant fight.
