His Honor is under a magic spell
Khalaf Al-Harbi
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 20 - 10 - 2010

A Madina judge recently accused of corruption said that he is under the influence of a black magic spell. He said he wrote real estate deeds in the names of members of a well-organized gang because he was under the spell of some sort of dark magic cast on him by a criminal in order to control him and make him sign legal documents without knowing what he was doing.
According to Okaz, ‘His Honor' – the judge – admitted during an administrative intelligence investigation that he was undergoing treatment to break the spell, which has led him to abuse his authority and illegally confiscate real estate and deprive the rightful owners of their property. This has encouraged some Madina real estate planning bureaus to take advantage of the situation knowing that the ‘Shaikh' is under a magic spell!
I thought of traveling to Madina to look for the place where the magic spell has been buried in order to dig it up and discover its properties. No doubt, to be able to gain control of the brain of this ‘revered' judge, the spell must indeed be powerful magic. However, I changed my mind about going to Madina because I remembered an announcement by an authoritative source of the Supreme Judicial Council denying that an accusation had been made against any Madina district judge – an announcement that implicitly put the blame on the media – Okaz in particular.
Now that this “fabricated story” has finally been confirmed to be true, and the accused judge and others who are involved have been found guilty of corruption, contrary to the announcement of the Supreme Judicial official, I found myself contemplating all of the magic spells that must be buried along the road between Madina and Riyadh!
Frankly speaking, there's nothing more disturbing than to write about corruption in the judicial system, because this can cause chronic depression, which can be transmitted to readers as well.
After all, there's no doubt that judges everywhere are human beings and amongst them are good and bad. It's not so much of a surprise to discover a corrupt judge thought it is a sad and painful news. But what is more surprising is the announcement of the Supreme Judicial Council completely denying what happened instead of taking the initiative to prosecute the culprit who not only has transgressed against an honorable profession, but has also caused harm to the reputation of judges and the Supreme Judicial Council as well.
In addition to the prosecution cases in connection with theft and selling lands and homes in housing projects, which have been allocated to some citizens by the government without these citizens ever being informed, an attorney has confirmed that he filed a lawsuit, on behalf of 600 citizens, who claim to have developed health problems caused by a factory in their neighborhood, for which they are asking compensation. However, according to the attorney, the same Madina judge (apparently under the influence of black magic) rejected the claim of the citizens with the speed of light.
I, however, advise this faithful attorney to accompany his clients to the same magic healer that ‘His Eminence the Shaikh' is seeing as that might help to cure their ailments which have been caused by pollution from the factory!
