Fluminense ousted defending champion Boca Juniors 3-1 at Maracana and 5-2 on aggregate to reach its first Copa Libertadores finals on Wednesday. The teams drew 2-2 a week earlier in the first leg of the Latin American championship. On Wednesday, after a scoreless first half, the Rio de Janeiro club played at a furious pace, scoring three unanswered goals after the six-time champion from Argentina struck first. “It is a huge win – getting into the final of the Libertadores by beating Boca,” said Washington, who scored Fluminense's first goal. “Fluminense has won the respect of everyone. This is a historic win – we deserve it.” Fluminense will meet Ecuador's Liga de Quito in the Finals on June 25 and July 2. Either team will be a first-time champion. Oman fires coach Oman coach Julio Cesar Ribas has been fired because of the team's poor performance in the 2010 World Cup qualifying. Hamad Al-Azzani was named as interim coach to replace Ribas, said Taha Al-Kishry, the general secretary of Oman's football federation. Al-Kishry announced the firing Wednesday, two days after Oman lost 3-0 to Japan in a World Cup qualifier. Oman must defeat Japan on Saturday to maintain a chance at advancing to the next round.
