Three Nepalese men have been arrested for allegedly peddling liquor (araq). The arrests came after a month-long investigation and surveillance carried out by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Jeddah Police. The CID had acted after receiving a tip-off about the alleged bootlegging activities on Makarona Street in Al-Bawadi District. The men had allegedly avoided all contact with their neighbors so that their activities could be kept secret. A trap was set for the men led by Maj. Gen. Ali Al-Ghamdi, Director of the Jeddah Police. A spokesman for the Jeddah Police called on all Saudi nationals to monitor the workers under their sponsorship to prevent them getting involved in illegal activities.
