The San Miguel Beermen advanced into the Finals of the 2010 Fiesta Conference, thrashing the B-Meg Derby Ace Llamados, 91-83, Sunday night in Game 6 of their semifinals series.
Gabe Freeman played another monstrous game, scoring 26 points on top of 22 rebounds, as the Beermen clinched the semifinals 4-2, giving them the chance to defend the crown they won last year.
Jay Washington also played a crucial role in San Miguel's win, nailing down 18 points and grabbing 13 rebounds.
Tony Washam led Derby Ace with 30 points and 12 rebounds but failed to draw enough support from his teammates.
However, San Miguel will have to wait until Friday to determine who they will meet in the best-of-seven Finals as the Alaska Aces whipped the Talk N Text Tropang Texters, 94-83, to level their semifinals series at 3-all, thus forcing a do-or-die Game 7 Wednesday.
Diamon Simpson played another huge game for the Alaska, scoring 21 points and grabbing 18 rebounds. Joe Devance chipped in 19.
Cyrus Baguio bounced back from his miserable six-point performance in Game 5 to score 14 points and nine rebounds. His steal off Jimmy Alapag leading to an easy basket in the final 1:11when the Texters were making their last-ditch rally virtually settled the outcome of the match as the Aces stretched their lead to 10, 93-83.
Alapag led the Texters with 20 points but was held scoreless in the second half. Jason Castro chipped in 19 points, all in the second half.
Ranidel de Ocampo was held to seven points, missing all of his attempts from the three-point arc.
Talk ‘N Text played minus Ryan Reyes who suffered a hyper-extended knee. Alaska was also a man down as Sonny Thoss suffered a sprained left ankle, an injury that would keep him out of the series for good.
Tempers flared as the two teams engaged in a furious battle. In one instance, Devance was hit from behind by Ranidel de Ocampo when the Alaska forward had a run-in with Alapag who had fouled him.
Ocampo was whistled for a flagrant foul
