Awards conferred on ME Retail Academy winners
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 30 - 05 - 2008

Sharaf DG announced that it has won two prestigious awards at the Middle East Retail Academy Awards Ceremony held at Le Meridien Al- Aqah in Fujairah. The leading power electronics retailer won the award for the “Best Retailer for Marketing/Promotion” and “Store Concept of the Year” at the award function held to recognize important contributions made by both vendors and retailers across MENA.
The retail category winners were decided by live electronic voting at the awards by more than 50 carefully profiled senior executives from the regional vendor community who attended the event.
Nilesh Khalkho, CEO, Sharaf DG, said: “We see this as a recognition and reflection of Sharaf DG's success in constantly bringing innovation to the electronics retailing segment in the region. Our customer-centric focus drives us to think outside the box and come up with ideas and concepts that create a delightful and enriching shopping experience for our customers.”
The award ceremony was held during Digital Consumer Channel (DCC) MEA, the premier professional networking event for senior executives from the consumer electronics, digital device and ICT products retail channel in MEA region.
DISTREE, which organized the event and hosted the Middle East Retail Academy Awards, laid down a stringent award nomination and declaration process. Five nominees for each of the five retailer categories were selected by an executive committee representing a cross-section of over 20 vendors and leading regional distributors to ensure that the awards truly acknowledged the best in each field based on very clear criteria. The nominees were then put up for live electronic voting by all the vendors present at the award function that injected excitement and suspense into the awards.
Sharaf DG's awards were based on the fact that it is changing the face of electronics retail in the region. It has launched several innovative schemes including the 100 percent Consumer Finance Scheme and it's latest “Free tech check-up” service from DG Help, where customers can call a special toll free number for a free check up of their PCs, laptops, wireless connections or home theatre systems. It's long-standing promise to customers “If you don't find it at Sharaf DG, you get it free” and “Lowest Price Guarantee” which assures customers that the prices of all products sold at Sharaf DG are the same when compared with any other other hypermarkets and retail stores. __
