Hyderabad's new international airport will not open for commercial operations from Sunday morning as the government of India has decided to delay it by a “few days”. GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd, the developer of India's biggest airport has said that the delay has been caused by a few airlines who approached the ministry of civil aviation seeking some more time to shift their operations from the existing Begumpet airport to the new airport at Shamshabad. The decision to delay the commercial operation was announced by the Union Civil Aviation Joint Secretary K.N. Srivastava in New Delhi minutes after the airport was formally inaugurated by the UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi at a glittering function in Hyderabad. No official of GMR group was available to share more details about the decision and when exactly the airport will start operating. According to earlier schedule the airport was to open from the early hours on Sunday. Lufthansa's flight was to make first landing at one minute past midnight. __
