Kanoo Travel lifts Jotun Paints Cup

Kanoo Travel lifted the Jotun Paints Cup after beating Mohammad Mansour Abu Salem Cricket Club (MMASCC) in the final of the JCA Division II Championship which is sponsored by the Jotun Saudi Arabia Co.Ltd. and organized by the Jeddah Cricket Association (JCA). Abdul Latif Jameel (ALJ) grabbed the third position.
The highlights of the final was a whirlwind innings of 139 runs by Syed Kaleem of Kanoo Travel and a polished 88 by Shaan Manzoor of MMASCC.
Opting to bat first MMASCC piled up a respectable total of 205-6 in the allotted 20 overs. Openers Shaan Manzoor hit 88 off 55 deliveries with 11 fours and one six. His partner Sajid supported him with a patient 28.
The other batsmen who contributed runs for MMASCC were Zulfiqar 21, Adil 15 not out and Adnan 13. Haroon Abdullah Bin Mehfooz took 3-44, Raji Mohammad Abdul Rasheed, Faheem and skipper Akbar Abdul Qadeer claimed one wicket each for Kanoo Travel.
In reply, Kanoo Travel reached 206-2 in 14.5 overs as Syed Kaleem hit a whirlwind 139 off 54 balls with 13 boundaries and 13 sixes. This was his second century in this tournament. His opening partner Mazhar was unlucky to be out for 10 but Mohammad Riaz supported him with a fine unbeaten 31. Amjad took the two wickets that fell for 34.
The final was officiated by experienced umpires Kumar Krishnan of Zahid Group of Companies and Hussain Abbassi of Sigma Paints Company. Officials from sponsors Jotun Paints, Dilip Tambe and Muzakkir Bukhari, and journalists Ramnarayan of Arab News and K.O.Paulson of Saudi Gazette graced the final .
In the semifinal, ALJ, batting first, scored 169-9 in 20 overs against Kanoo Travel. Adil scored 46, Tanveer 14, skipper Naeemullah Khan 22, Ghufran 16, Hamza 14 and Basheer 13. Fast bowler Raji Mohammad Abdul Rasheed claimed 3-25, off-spinner Ibrahim Bin Mehfooz took 2-24 while skipper Haroon Abdullah, Amir and Muhammad Riaz got one wicket each.
In reply Kanoo Travel reached 172-3 in 18.1 overs. Najeeb topscored with an unbeaten 46. Mazhar made 41, Muhammad Riaz 36 and Syed Kaleem 19. Sameer, Basheer and Zahid claimed one wicket each.
In the other semis, MMASCC, batting first, scored 201-5 against a young Peeran-XI. Shaan Manzoor made a dashing 45, Sajid 42, Adnan 42 and Adil 30. Shahid Mohammad took 2-31, Safdar 1-31 and Arshad 1-47. In reply, Peeran-XI could score only 170-8. Shiraz made 49, Sher Khan 37, Waliullah 33 and Shaad 14. Amjad grabbed 4-18, Shaan 2-29 while Irfan and Adnan claimed one wicket each. __
