Adil, Tanveer star in ALJ win in Jotun Cup

ALJ, Kanoo, Peeran and MMASCC qualified for the Last Four in JCA-Division-II championship for Jotun Cup, which is sponsored by the Jotun Saudi Arabia Co. Ltd. and is organized by the Jeddah Cricket Association.
ALJ beat Saliheen by 84 runs, Kanoo Travel defeated Al-Ghudaid-XI by 6 wickets, Peeran-XI won by 9 wickets against the Desert Warriors and Mohammad Mansour Abu Salem Cricket Club (MMASCC) downed ACC by 55 runs in the quarterfinals.
ALJ, batting first, made 240-2 in 18 overs against Saliheen. ALJ openers Tanveer scored 76 not out and Adil hit 93 from 38 balls. The openers put up a record first wicket partnership of 153 runs. Zahid hit an unbeaten 40. Rana claimed 1 for 37 and Abdul Razzaq 1-40. Saliheen, in reply, managed 156-8 in the allotted 18 overs. Azhar scored 56, Zahid 27 and Irfan 17. Tanveer was the pick of the bowlers from ALJ as he took 5-47 while Basheer claimed 2-23.
Al-Ghudaid-XI scored 139-9 in 20 overs against Kanoo Travel through Akmal 24, Asghar 19, Nawaz 17, Babar 12 and Khalid Rana 10. Akbar Abdul Qadeer recorded a magical figures of 4-16 and fast bowler Raji Abdul Rasheed claimed 3-15. Abdul Jaleel and Amer claimed one each. Kanoo wicketkeeper Syed Kaleem took 4 catches and made one stumping. Kanoo Travel, in reply, reached 140-4 in 14.5 overs. The top run getter was Najeeb made an unbeaten 51. Mazhar made 32 and Amer 28. Asghar Ali, Khan and Nawaz grabbed one wicket each.
Batting first, Desert Warriors scored 202-6 in 20 overs against Peeran-XI. Kumar hit an unbeaten 62 in 25 balls, Raziuddin 42, Quddus 31 and Taher 14. Safdar claimed 3-35, Shahid 2-37 and Arshad 1-39. Peeran-XI, consisting of young players, reached 206-1 in 18 overs as Shaad hit an unbeaten and match-winning knock of 134 in 52 balls with a dozen sixes and five boundaries. Walliullah remained unbeaten on 51. Rehan took the wicket of skipper Shiraz.
MMASCC, batting first ,made 233-5 in 20 overs against ACC. The consistent Shaan hit 90 in 43 balls. Irfan made 47, Sajid 35, Adil 22 and Adnan 22. Omar took 2-52, Azhar, Nana and Abid got one wicket each. ACC was all out for 178 in 19.3 overs. Jayaram Gaud made 71, Nana 16, Omar 15 and Tabrez 13. Shan, who made 90, took 4-16. Adnan, Amjad and Kamran claimed 2 wickets each while Babar got one.
