An eyewitness and swift police action led to the arrest on Thursday of three persons for attempting to kidnap a 15-year-old girl in broad daylight in a street in the Ghulail District here. The victim was released unharmed. A witness to the incident saw a car pull over and block the path of the girl before two of its occupants descended and forced her into the vehicle. Noting the number plate, the witness alerted police who set up dozens of checkpoints in search of the car and persons matching the description given. The vehicle was found abandoned soon after, and the girl was also located, telling police that her kidnappers had released her unharmed after taking fright at the proliferation of police in the area. The suspects were identified through vehicle records and their whereabouts located within 12 hours. They were taken into custody at Al-Nuzlatayn Police Station.
