The body of a woman who was swept away in rainwater floods in Wadi Al-Khurma was recovered by rescue teams on Tuesday, 24 hours after her son's body was found. The other six from their family, who were helpless onlookers last Friday as first the mother and then the son, in an attempt to save her, were carried away by a flash flood, were rescued by authorities after scrambling to safety on hillside rocks. Saudi Gazette reported Wednesday that the Civil Defense was still searching for a woman taken by floods in Sobah Balahmar along with her husband and a son whose bodies had been recovered. The Civil Defense in Al-Baha said Tuesday that over 2,000 emergency calls related to heavy rains had been received over the previous few days, leading to the mobilization of more than 900 commissioned and non-commissioned officers and 50 rescue teams. Brigadier Ibrahim Al-Zahrani, Director General of the Civil Defense in Baha, said 228 millimeters of rain had fallen – the heaviest in several years.
