PISJ-ES, Corniche shine

ES and Corniche International School scored back-to-back victories in the Under-14 Inter-School Competition which is sponsored by Johnson Control and Contraco and organized by Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA). Ten schools are participating in this tournament.
PISJ-ES defeated Gharnata International School comfortably which, batting first, made just 81 in the allotted 15 overs. PISJ-ES achieved 86 with plenty of overs to spare. In the second match, Corniche International School, batting first, amassed 117 and in reply Hala International School was home (118) for the loss of four wickets.
Corniche International School won against DPS Al-Falah International School by 7 runs, PISJ-ES thrashed Al-Wadi International School by 9 wickets and in the last match of the day, Al-Beladi had the last laugh against Gharnata International School.
Al-Wadi, batting first against PISJ-ES, could score only 80-5 in the allotted 15 overs as Saqib Amer made 16 and Zohaib 15. For PISJ Habib took 2-4 while Omar, Hassan and Saleh got one wicket each. PISJ, chasing this modest total, made 81 for the loss of one wicket in just 46 balls as opener Furqan remained unbeaten on 55 in just 30 balls with 7 hits to the fence.
Al-Beladi, opting to bat first against Gharnata, stroked 150-5 in the allotted 15 overs with opener Sayam making 36 in 18 balls. Hassan hit 34 not out in 17 deliveries and Waleed played 14 balls for 25. Ahmed, Danesh, Hamza and Sameer took one wicket each. Gharnata, in reply, was restricted to 140-4. Muteeb of Al-Beladi took 2-21 while Hassan and Waleed got one wicket each.
Corniche International School, using the track first, put up 133-3 in the allotted 15 overs as Anas hammered 65 not out in 33 balls with 4 fours while both Ali and Bilal made 22. For DPS Abdu, Ahmed and Adnan took one wicket each. DPS in response was stranded at 124-8 in 15 overs to lose the encounter by mere 7 runs. Normit made his presence felt with 44 in 25 balls and Adnan made 19. For Corniche Omer Khan took 3-22, Raza 2-21 while Ali, Wajeh and Mohsin claimed one wicket each. __
