KAMC teams dominate

Powerhouse club King Abdulaziz Medical City (KAMC) stepped into high gear actions last weekend, that saw 3 of its 4 teams barge into the win columns in different categories, to shore up its titles campaign in the ongoing Al-Baik Women's Tennis Tournament inside the compound of the Jeddah International School.
At the forefront of the three-team onslaught was KAMC's Xenia Chan and Jean Gandia in Category B1 who kick-started their first match with 3-0 game scores against Dang Bangit and Sheila Harris of Saudia Tennis Club by breaking serves of their opponents in the first and third games, sandwiched by a held-serve. The SCTC players, however, hammered in a string of three-game scores to stay toe-to-toe against their foes. But the KAMC's duo proved steadier in the exchange of shots to close out the set at 8-4. Joy Siongco followed up the KAMC charge in the second set singles match, smashing the challenge of Liza Fiesta of SCTC with similar 8-4 finish. The third set was a loss for KAMC, as its Malou Agarin and Rosan Bayot were overwhelmed 3-8 by the superb service games of SCTC's Yeye Balde, who was not broken-serve in the entire match, and Fenn Delatorre, who yielded only one service game.
In Category B1, KAMC's Team HMx in higher category, unleashed more overpowering plays to rout Enjaz-Magic in straight 3 sets. KAMC's Malou Agarin and Rosan Bayot redeemed themselves from their Category B1 loss, by living up to the lead roles in the game of the night last March 12.
This time against Enjaz's Joy de Mesa and Beng Tumale, and trailing in every frame of the entire match, 0-1, 1-2, 2-3, 3-4, 4-5, 5-6, and 6-7, Malou Agarin and Rowena Valencia displayed their tenacity, by coming back charging from 6-all. Malou was broken serve in the 13th game, But the KAMC duo never wilted on pressure, and in the 14th, held on to their gritty plays, breaking the service game of Enjaz-Magic's Joy de Mesa at 30-40 game points to get out of the cliffhanger towards the tiebreak game. The tiebreak ended the story for Malou and Rowena – a 7-2 big game points for KAMC that brought them the first set with 8-7 score.
Its second set singles player Joy Siongco defeated Enjaz-Magic's Rosan Bayot 8-4. KAMC's Xenia Chan and Ashley Jao of KAMC were so dominant against Enjaz-Magic's Malou dela Merced and Elly Dominguez, 8-1.
KAMC's team in Category C posted similar 3-0 victory over MEEC. Happy Salvador and Mary Amexibia nailed down a 8-2 win over MEEC's Barbie Padlan and Mia Aleto. KAMC's Vangie Clarin made it 8-4 versus Hezyl Lozada in the singles. Tonette and Naomy Quitoriano came out 8-4 winner over MEEC's Lina Dime and Kristine Marcelino.
Yeye Balde of SCTC continued her winning ways and carried her team Danube into its own spotlight as she teamed up with Fenn dela Torre in the third set to hand down a 3-0 defeat to the host JIS Team B1. The SCTC pair carved out an 8-5 win over JIS's Dodie Villanueva and Donna Morte. Prior to that, Julie Baquilar and Liza of Danube came out from the brink in the first set, then survived a cliffhanger to level at 7-games all, with 7-2 victory in the tiebreaker. The second set singles match boiled down to just one game for JIS's Mila Carmina at the hands of SCTC-Danube's Dang Bangit, 8-1.
Saudia City Tennis Club made it a two team victories in the weekend in the Lower Mix category. Linda Castillo and Joy Valdez won 8-4 against KAMC's Lilian Sy and Meann Exibia. SCTC's Tatah Martinez and Grace De Silva defeated Wheng Valenzuela and Happy Salvador 8-5. Ria Alimon and Ella Ramos won 8-2, for KAMC against SCTC's May Borje and Fatima Rasul.
Host JIS Team C made inroads into the top of category C after Thursday-night's win (8-4, 8-0, 6-8). Against KAMC's Tonette Panagsagan and Naomi Quitoriano, Mitch Jereza and Jing Olaya won 8-4. The second set singles was a no-show for KAMC's Ashley Jao, and that awarded the set to JIS's Bing Cabuquin. KAMC's Happy Salvador and Maria won over JIS's Weng Castro and Star Pena 8
