A salesman carrying prepaid mobile telephone cards worth SR50,000 in a briefcase was attacked and robbed Tuesday by two persons who tried to get away in a pick-up van only for their Arab victim to pursue them and fling himself onto the back of the vehicle. Witnesses in the streets of Al-Qariyat said they saw “something out of a Hollywood movie” as the driver of the van tried to shake off the unwanted passenger who steadfastly clung on for life, limb and briefcase, as they sped through the streets of the town. Realizing they were unable to the rid themselves of his presence, the two thieves drove the salesman out to an abandoned area where they beat him up and left. Police said that one of the pair was arrested only hours after the incident while his accomplice was taken into custody on Wednesday.
