As part of its students outreach program, a leading multinational company in the capital is offering career counseling and job opportunities to Saudi undergraduates studying at Jubail Industrial College.
Mahmoud Shaban, ABB Saudi Arabia Divisional Manager for Power Systems for Arabian Peninsula and MEA Region, said due to the growth in the Kingdom's energy sector the demand for well-trained and skilled Saudi engineering graduates is increasing.
“We need to reach out to these undergraduates and help them take decisions on career opportunities available in Saudi job market. “We are also keen to extend our support to the next generation of Saudi electrical engineers and encourage them to pursue career meeting their expectations,” Shaban said.
He said as part of students outreach program, ABB Saudi Arabia's executives held a series of lectures and question-and-answer session with students of Jubail Industrial College enrolled at its Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology Department.
He said the ABB staff explained the career opportunities to around 25 students from Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology Department that attended the session at the college.
The students were informed about career opportunities available in Saudi Arabia's energy sector and in private companies, he said. “ABB Saudi Arabia also spoke about some of its ongoing projects in the Kingdom's public sector firms and private companies,” he said.
ABB Saudi Arabia executives visited Jubail Industrial College and held a series of lectures followed by question and answer session for Saudi students enrolled at Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology Department of college, he said.
“The basic aim of our visit to the Jubail Industrial College was to draw Saudi students' attention to the career opportunities available in the Kingdom's energy sector and to ABB Saudi Arabia's Sweden Masters Scholarship program,” the official told Saudi Gazette referring to the recent meeting of ABB career counselors with Saudi students.
Since its establishment Jubail Industrial College has been working closely with state of the art technology providers for the benefit of regular students and industrial trainees, Shaban quoted an official of Jubail Industrial College as saying.
“We were delighted to welcome ABB Saudi Arabia into our classrooms to discuss the power and automation sector and how we can work together for the advantage of our outstanding students,” the college spokesperson said.
He said ABB Saudi Arabia in cooperation with the Swedish Embassy in Riyadh has been running a Masters Scholarship Program for Saudi electrical engineering graduates.
The basic aim of scholarship program was to equip the Saudi students with the skills and abilities for a successful career in the Kingdom's energy industry, he said.
