Bazaar showcases latest in multicultural trends
Saudi Gazette report

Stalls selling modern fashion trimmings and accessories were the highlight of an exhibition titled ‘RedSea Bazaar' held at the RedSea Mall in Jeddah from Jan. 12 to Jan. 15, where expat men and women of different nationalities showcased their range of creative articles, such as, clothes, jewelry, cosmetics, music and authentic food delicacies from around the world.
Sara, a Jordanian expat, had put up a stall that she named “TASH”. “I visit Turkey twice a year in order to buy the latest in women's accessories, such as rings, bracelets, etc. I am planning to increase my business next year as I hope to bring in a collection of trendy necklaces and earrings as well,” she said.
Mohammed Abdullah, an abaya shop owner, who was also exhibiting at the bazaar, said: “The abaya designs in my shop are different and also the quality of the cloth used is superior. Our abayas are reasonably priced between SR500 and SR1000,” said Abdullah.
Mohammed Ashraf, a Jordanian expat, was upbeat about participating in the bazaar. “The fashion accessories that I am selling are for the modern women. I bought them from Lebanon,” he added.
A Turkish woman, requesting anonymity, had put up a stall selling silver jewelry. “Many women now prefer silver jewelry instead of gold due to the latter's escalating prices.
I am selling modern silver jewelry at reasonable prices. I understand what kind of jewelry and accessories girls like,” she said, adding that she planned to use the money she makes at the bazaar for her education in Turkey.
The jewels on display at her stall were a perfect combination of modern and traditional wear.
Samah, a Yemeni expatriate girl also participating in the event, told Saudi Gazette about why her shop was a hit.
“All the cosmetics have been brought from Dubai and Kuwait. They are branded and women will find a variety of brands under one roof at my shop,” she said.
Firdous, a Turkish expat at a music shop in the bazaar, said: “I am very enthusiastic about this bazaar as I am confident I can make a good profit and I will definitely participate again.” __
