Etihad Etisalat's competitive spirit shines through at GCF
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 24 - 01 - 2010

Etihad Etisalat (Mobily) once again is proud to sponsor for the third time the “Global Competitiveness Forum” that kicked off at Four Seasons hotel in Riyadh on Saturday.
CEO of Mobily Khalid Al Kaf expressed his pleasure over his company's sponsorship of the Forum, saying that Mobily's sponsorship came out of its overall direction of participating in top-level events and developments.
Executives from the world's top 100 corporations, Nobel Prize winners, and key officials from the Kingdom are attending the three-day forum.
“Mobily's birth sparked the flame of competition in our sector and we continue to carry that torch and shine it on all of our activities,” Al Kaf said.
This year, Mobily is the Ultimate and IT sponsor. Mobily itself is a compelling competitiveness driver in its sector, having broken the telecommunications monopoly when it launched in May 2005, creating then technology-based competition with its aggressive adoption of high-speed packet access (HSPA) mobile broad.
Outside the telecommunications, Mobily pumped up the value of the sports marketing investment landscape 10-fold in 2007, with its landmark partnership with Al Hilal Club.
“The success of past forums encouraged us to come back this year,” Al Kaf said, noting that the Kingdom's efforts at creating a world class and highly competitive investment environment had driven its rank up to being the 13th most competitive business environment.
He lauded the role played by the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA) in founding and organizing the Global Competitiveness Forum in the Kingdom for the fourth time. The forum, a launchpad for investment directed initiative, brings together hundreds of key executives, leading academics, and world-class experts, together to share their experience on sustainable competitiveness.
On Sunday, Abdul Aziz Al-Tamami, Mobily's chief operating officer, will be among the key speakers. His speech will highlight the importance of training manpower to reach corporate targets. Al-Tamami will discuss Mobily's experience in this regard and the success the company's staff accomplished.
