The Frontier Guard patrols rescued a team of Austrian explorers who lost their way on the edge of the Empty Quarter (Al-Rub' Al-Khali) desert. Col. Muhammad Bin Saad Al-Ghamdi, spokesman of the Frontier Guard in the Eastern Province, said the Aradah Sector patrols noticed three 4-wheel-drive SUVs coming from Omani territories carrying 11 Austrians who had lost their way into Saudi territory. Al-Ghamdi said the Frontier Guard patrolmen helped the explorers and guided them to the right way. Meanwhile, the Frontier Guard command in the Eastern Province has called on picnickers and others not to enter border areas for their own safety. He said these areas are meant for the operations of the Frontier Guard and its patrols only.
