Yousef and Ayman top singles in Astec Team Tennis tourney

Yousef Tharwaf and Ayman Al-Jadani of FTC Lacoste team topped the singles event of the Astec Team Tennis Tournament here. Thet played under the banner of FTC Lacoste in Category B2 and Category C.
The matches began with doubles encounter. Lito Mosquera and Rill Macapagal of FTC Lacoste 1 over the tandem of Francis and Rey of JRA@ team.
Lito Mosquera and Rill Macapagal of FTC Lacoste 1 stormed to a 4-1 against Francis and Rey of JRA@ Team. However Francis and Rey tried hard to overcome their unforced errors and tied the score at 5-5. But Lito and Rill regrouped to finish the game at 8-5.
In the singles event, Yousef Tharwaf of FTC Lacoste dominated Jun Atienza of JRA@, using his powerful ground strokes to win the match at 8-1.
In the third match, Nilo and Leo of JRA@ met Sev Sumaya and Conrad Matias of FTC Lacoste. Nilo and Leo took the lead and overpowered Sev and Conrad at 8-1.
The next singles event between Erick Diaz of FTC Lacoste and Dario of JRA@ was a keen affair. The players matched well to tie the socre at 3-3. Erick then used his powerful serve and attacked his foe on the net to win the game at 8-3.
The last and final match was played by Gerry Nazaire and Noel De Guzman of FTC Lacoste against Manny and Obet of JRA@. Though Gerry and Noel fought back to tie the score at 3-3, Manny and Obet won the set 6-4.
The Gerry and Noel fought hard to get even and tied the score at 6-6 then followed by a tie-break at 7-7. It was in the tie-breaker that Gerry and Noel took advantage. They won the tie-break 7-3 to wrest the match at 8-7.
In Category C, FTC Lacoste 3 fought neck and neck with Astec team. Noel and Nadeem of FTC Lacoste won over Roger and Ronald of Astec at 8-2.
It was followed by a singles event between Ayman Al-Jadani of FTC Lacoste over Ronnie of Astec. After storming to 3-0 Ayman did not give any chance to Ronnie to win the match at 8-3. The second doubles was played by Rainier Arandia and Romy Dilla of FTC Lacoste against Gerry and Noel of Astec. Gerry and Noel took a 4-1 lead. Though Romy and Rainier tried their best Gerry and Noel of Astec won the match 8-6.
In the next game was played between Jessie of FTC Lacoste and Celso of Astec. Celso reversed the tide and overpowered Jessie at 8-1 which resulted into a decision game.
Boy and Enzo of FTC Lacoste played the last match against Johnny and Ryan of Astec who conceded only two points before winning at 8-2 to make it 3-0 for Astec.
This tournament which is organized by Astec is held at the tennis courts of Albilad and Sheraton Hotel here. __
