England will play a World Cup warm-up match against Egypt for its first game of 2010. The March 3 friendly at Wembley Stadium will give the England players a chance to face a team with a similar style to Algeria, which beat Egypt in a playoff. England and Algeria were drawn into Group C at the World Cup in South Africa along with the United States and Slovenia. England has played Egypt twice, winning a friendly in 1986 in Cairo and a World Cup group match four years later in Italy. “I think we will play March 3 at Wembley, against Egypt, then we have to find the date to play against Mexico,” Capello said. Group C also features the United States and Slovenia. A home win at Wembley in March would give England its 500th victory. England has won the World Cup just once in its history, when it beat the then West Germany 4-2 at Wembley in the 1966 final.
