A drunken man attacked the imam of a mosque when he was leading the Fajr (dawn) prayer Wednesday in Muhammadiyah District, north of Jeddah. The man stormed into the mosque when the dawn prayer was being held and hit the imam on the head with a sharp piece of metal, rendering him unconscious. The imam was taken to hospital, while his assailant, who had been detained by the worshipers, laughed hysterically. The police were then called to take charge of the man. The worshippers said that they had never seen the man in their neighborhood before.
