Saudi representatives in the Gulf Clubs Championship, Al-Nasr and Al-Ittifaq, both shared points while playing at home against Sur of Oman and Qatar of Qatar respectively Monday.
Al-Nasr drew with Sur 2-2 in their Group B match at King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh.
Khaled Al-Zaila'i opened the account for Al-Nasr in the 25th minute before Saleem Al-Sawod equalized for the visitors in the 39th minute. Saad Al-Harthi put Nasr one up in the 55th minute, but Oman fought back and succeeded in scoring the equalizer 10 minutes later through Maher Al-Oraimi.
Al-Nasr now has four points after its win against Sur in the away match.
Ittifaq also shared points with its Qatari guests after their Group C encounter at Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd Stadium in Dammam ended in a 1-1 draw.
Moroccan midfielder Yousef Safri put Qatar ahead in the 22nd minute. The guests were about to pick all the three points, when Khalifa Ayil saved Al-Ittifaq the blushes with a goal from the spot moments before the final whistle.
Three players were sent offs during the match. Al-Ittifaq's Mohammad Al-Shahrani and Younes Al-Manqari and Mohammad Omar of Qatar were the players to get their marching orders. Al-Ittifaq has one point after it lost its away match against Qatar 3-2.
In another development, the Technical Committee of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation Monday penalized Al-Ahli and Al-Hilal teams after their fans fought at the end of their Sunday tie, which Hilal won 2-1.
The teams have been fined SR20,000 each besides shifting one of their home matches into an away game.
The committee also fined Al-Shabab keeper Waleed Abdullah SR6,000 besides suspending him for three matches for his behavior during Sunday's match against Al-Fath. Waleed was sent off for the foul in extra time. Shabab lost the match 2
