Ducks beat Flyers in shootout

Teemu Selanne scored the only goal in a shootout, and had two third-period goals - the last with 16 seconds left - as the Anaheim Ducks beat the Philadelphia Flyers 3-2 in the NHL Saturday.
Chris Pronger scored his first goal with the Flyers after spending three years in Anaheim and helping the Ducks win the 2007 Stanley Cup title. Philadelphia's Mike Richards also scored his NHL-best sixth goal of the season.
Blackhawks 4, Avalanche 3, SO: In Chicago, Andrew Ladd scored on a high shot in the ninth round of the shootout to give Chicago victory over Colorado in its home opener.
Jonathan Toews, Kris Versteeg and Tomas Kopecky also connected in the shootout, while Milan Hejduk, Marek Svatos and Darcy Tucker scored for Colorado in the tiebreaker.
Ladd, Cam Barker and Duncan Keith scored in regulation for the Blackhawks, and Matt Hendricks, Wojtek Wolski and Hejduk countered for the Avalanche.
Senators 4, Thrashers 2: In Ottawa, Mike Fisher assisted on Alex Kovalev's first-period goal and added a power-play goal in the second as Ottawa overcame Atlanta.
Ottawa's Jarkko Ruutu and Chris Neil also scored, and Brian Elliott made 27 saves in his first start of the season for the Senators. Atlanta's Ilya Kovalchuk scored his fifth goal in three games, and Ron Hainsey added a goal for the Thrashers.
Kings 2, Blues 1: In St. Louis, Los Angeles won its third straight game by edging St. Louis.
Blue Jackets 2, Coyotes 0: In Glendale, Arizona, Rick Nash and R.J. Umberger scored goals, and Mathieu Garon stopped 36 shots for his first shutout as Columbus downed Phoenix.
Penguins 5, Maple Leafs 2: In Toronto, Sidney Crosby scored two power-play goals, and Evgeni Malkin had three assists to help Pittsburgh beat Toronto.
Red Wings 3, Capitals 2: In Detroit, Thomas Holmstrom broke a tie with a power-play goal with 6:53 left, and Ville Leino and Jason Williams also scored for Detroit in victory over Washington.
Sabres 1, Predators 0: In Nashville, Tennessee, Mike Grier scored with 3:25 left, and Ryan Miller made 25 saves for his first shutout of the season as Buffalo held off Nashville.
Oilers 3, Canadiens 2: In Edmonton, Alberta, Nikolai Khabibulin made 33 saves, and Mike Comrie, Jean-Francois Jacques and Patrick O'Sullivan scored for Edmonton to defeat Montreal.
Lightning 5, Hurricanes 2: In Tampa, Florida, Ryan Malone had three goals, including a go-ahead score midway through the third period, to help Tampa Bay down Carolina.
Sharks 4, Wild 2: In San Jose, California, Dany Heatley scored the tiebreaking goal on a power play late in the second period and San Jose overcame a two-goal deficit to beat Minnesota.
Bruins 4, Islanders 3, SO: In Boston, Blake Wheeler and Marc Savard scored in the shootout after Boston rallied with three goals in the final 8:01 of regulation to overcome New York.
Devils 3, Panthers 2: In Sunrise, Florida, David Clarkson scored a power-play goal with 3:35 left, and Travis Zajac had a goal and an assist for New Jersey in the win over Florida.
