Bike woman saved from strangulation By Badr Al-Rasheedi YANBU – A Saudi man saved a woman driving a quad bike on the Yanbu Corniche Thursday after the cloth of her head covering got caught in its wheels. The woman, who also had her daughter on the back of the vehicle, screamed before choking and passing out, attracting the attention of a beachgoer who cut the cloth with a knife. The deceased, according to police who were called to the man's home by his son, suffered from mental problems. – Okaz/SG Prayer-time joyrider jailed RIYADH – One of the most notorious “drifting” joyriders in the capital has been given an unspecified jail term after police caught up with him recently, Al-Watan newspaper reported Friday. Following efforts to clamp down on the practice in Riyadh which saw the arrest of 40 joyriders during Ramadan alone, complaints from the public enabled officers in the Al-Nassiriya District to locate “Sam,” as the young driver is nicknamed, and arrested him without incident. Sam was known to practice his activities at dawn and Maghreb prayers during Ramadan when traffic officers were otherwise occupied with the suhoor final meal and breaking their fasts. Joyriders frequently steal vehicles and use them to speed and perform stunts, sometimes in busy traffic or residential areas, leading to considerable damage to private property as well as injury and death. – SG Open grave found near tourist spot By Awadh Al-Shuteili AL-MAJMA'A – Authorities are looking into the origin of human remains found at an open grave close to a tourist site in the Al-Majma'a region between Riyadh and Buraidah. The site, which contains an intact skull and other parts of a skeleton, was discovered by Abdul Rahman Al-Shab'an, an official from the Antiquities Office as he conducted a routine tour of a tourist spot only 500 meters from the grave.
