The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh has announced that the chancery is now open to receive members of the foreign diplomatic corps, Saudi government authorities and officials, and all Filipino expatriates who may wish to convey their condolences to the bereaved family of the late President Corazon C. Aquino. Condolence books have been placed at the Mabini Hall of the chancery for the signing of message of condolences. A 10-day period of national mourning starting Aug. 1 was declared for the late president. Saudi officials and diplomats were allotted the time from 11 A.M. to 2 P.M. to visit the chancery and sign the condolence book, while Filipinos are welcome to come and sign the book between the hours of 9 A.M. thru 8 P.M. Filipino expatriates are also requested to join and unite as one in paying their respect to the former president by attending the necrological service on Thursday, Aug. 6, at 8.30 P.M. at the multi-purpose court of the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh. The necrological service will culminate activity organized for all Filipinos in expressing their “love and reverence to former President Aquino who was hailed by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo as the Philippines' ‘national treasure and beloved mother' of the nation who led her people back to the road of freedom and democracy.”
