From July 1 to October – this year the summer holiday travel rush is heavy because it coincides with the Umrah season that stretches up to the end of Ramadan and the Eid holiday. To cope with the increased traffic Saudi Arabian Airlines has prepared a summer operations plan that has been approved by Khaled Bin Abdullah Al-Mulhim, SAA's Director General. Following are the highlights of the plan: • More than 470 flights per day • More than 46,000 flights over the summer • More than 7 million seats available in all • 1,938 additional domestic flights • 608 additional international flights Reservations: 80 additional employees have been deployed to reservations call center and the aim is to serve more than 85% of the calls – SAA's annual average of reservation calls is 20 million. Staff shuffle: Vacations are cut short and training programs are put on hold so as to deploy more personnel specialized in aviation and flight services and increase staff in different field-service locations, reducing vacations and postponing training programs. Also, shifts will be overlapped so as to ensure the necessary number of employees working around the clock.
