Chennai Super Kings withstood a late assault from Abhishek Nayar and Harbhajan Singh and held their nerve to clinch a thriller over Mumbai Indians at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, on Wednesday. It was Chennai skipper Dhoni's second victory against Sachin-less Mumbai which is yet to taste victory. Put into bat, Australian opener Mathew Hayden led the Charge with a strokeful 81 to post a seemingly imposing total of 208 for 5. Young Suresh Raina gave Hayden wonderful support by blasting his way to 53 from 54 balls. Dhoni himself contributed almost a run-a-ball 30. With Mumbai needing 62 off the last four overs, with four wickets in hand, the contest seemed pretty much over. Nayar (45) and Harbhajan (28), captaining again in Tendulkar's absence, almost stole the match from Chennai. But the winner held its nerve. Earlier, veteran Sanath Jayasuriya made 20 from 18 balls. Then Robin Uthappa upped the tempo with 43 from 38 balls, followed by 24 by Bravo. Chennai Super Kings 208-5 (P.Patel 14 (14 balls), Hayden 81 (102), Raina 53 (54), Dhoni 30 (31) - Nehra 1-35, Kulkarni 1-25, Khote 2-29 ). Mumbai Indians 202-7 (Jayasuriya 20 (18), Uthappa 43 (38), Pollock 17 (36), Bravo 24 (26), Nayar not out 45 (53), Harbhajan 28 (21) - Gony 1-18, Joginder Sharma 2-29, Amarnath 1-57, Muralitharan 2-40).
