Amaa has been appointed Assistant Mayor for Information Technology, the highest position assigned to a woman at Jeddah's mayoralty. Mayor of Jeddah Adel Fakeeh made the appointment which links Al-Amaa to the General Infrastructure Administration, IT Administration for Subsidiary Municipality Affairs, the General Administration for Applications, the General Administration for Electronic Service e-Government Administration and the Administrative Support Unit. Al-Amaa obtained Master's and PhD degrees from George Washington University in the US and later became the first deputy dean of the Computer Sciences and IT College at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah. She joined the Jeddah mayoralty in the capacity of director general of the Communications Administration. Al-Amaa has also worked as an IT adviser for the Savola Group.
