Aleli Sacdo entertained spectators with steady upward movement till she clinched the ladies' crown while Feras Sahel started hot to red hot till he bagged the men's title of the FEDBG quest for the Bowlers of May 2009 at the Bowling City here.
Sacdo's campaign started with a fair 184 to be five bowlers away from blazing starter Aisah Silabay who initially dosed Puri Parena (199), Sally Sanosa (193), Malou Gime (187) and Minda Guevarra (185) with 213. With 195 follow up Sacdo moved to 4th spot as Sanosa, Parena and Margie Villasanta occupied the top 3 posts with respective running total of 390, 387 and 385. Silabay slid to 5th due to a lousy 165. A 228 explosion then placed Sacdo to the top with a 607 computation. Silabay who regained track with 208 contended with 588 while Parena and Sanosa tried to hang up with 571 and 561. Everyone then showed massive struggles on the ultimate game with newcomer Marlyn Hall spiking 202, Anne Felismenia blasting 205 and Malou Nidoy discharging 196. But Sacdo really had the momentum to anticipate and match up any breakaway attempt of Silabay. All the flaring thrusts of Silabay was extinguished by more blazing counter offensives of the campaigner so that at the end Sacdo who totaled 816 took home the May title with corresponding distinctive jersey and cash prize. Silabay with 770 satisfied herself on the second place. From nowhere Fully Primo startled contenders when she pierced into the third place with 761 including the 228 last-game strong blitz while Tibay survived 4th berth with 750 with a 207 fortification. Ester Jalata, Bheng Baraquel and Anna Artemis also contended in this quest.
Feras began his trek with 214 to be in the early top 5 with Ray Thompson topping with 241, Nabeel Sadawi (232), Ernie Geslani (227) and LJ Laderas 203 on game 1. But after a devastating 266 break and a 233 follow up Feras get into the final match with group AB top-qualifier score of 877 including the lowly 164 ender. Rene Rom topped group CD with 843 to be in the finals together with Lavern Laderas (831), Romy Antonio (798), Bher del Rosaro (782), Willie Cordero (751) and Verasak (749). Feras was joined by LJ (848), Oca Bernabe (835) Thompson (828), Askar (809) and Ruel Santoc (792).
A grueling initial game on finals was witnessed when Feras with 211 was disadvantaged by Askar, LJ and del Rosario who charged with 258, 255 and 222 respectively. But a 277 last ditch wiped off all the threats for Feras to delightfully take the May title with winning score 488. Thompson placed second with 253, LJ settled third position with 444 and Antonio who splendidly rolled 230 for the last chance toppled the last berth with 433. __
