A supreme committee is investigating congestion at seaports in Jeddah and Dammam, sources here said on Monday. The development comes following a Saudi Customs Office letter to the Saudi Ports Authority revealing the total failure of the loading companies to apply the agreement to improve loading and unloading operations. The letter said the issue is affecting the interests of all, including importers, merchants and consumers. The head of Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry Muhammad Al-Fadl has submitted a detailed memo to the Ministry of Interior on the situation at Jeddah Islamic Port. The memo will be forwarded to Prince Naif Bin Abdul Aziz, Second Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, sources said.
